NIFES signed with NORAD

NIFES has signed for a new support scheme with NORAD, The Norwegian aid agency.

Since NIFES became a separate unit from the Directorate of Fisheries in 2003 it has not taken part in the long-term support schemes administered by NORAD, The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation. Now a new agreement has been signed between NORAD and NIFES along with the Directorate of Fisheries, the Institute of Marine Research and the Norwegian Veterinary Institute.

The support scheme provides the financial basis for the Centre for Development Cooperation in Fisheries (CDCF).

-We are very happy with the agreement. It is a good thing that our knowledge can be useful also in the aid sector, says Director of NIFES, Øyvind Lie.
